Home » Hiring Transparency Is Coming — What Dealerships Need to Know
Starting January 1, 2026, Ontario dealerships will need to follow new job posting rules:
Show a salary range (max $50K spread unless over $200K).
Disclose AI if used in screening or hiring.
Remove “Canadian experience required” from all postings.
State if the job is for a current or future vacancy.
Tell all interviewees the decision within 45 days.
Keep records for three years.
Why it matters:
Technicians, service advisors, F&I managers, every role counts. These rules impact your careers page, job board listings, and even ads your managers post on social media.
Other provinces are moving in the same direction. B.C. and P.E.I. already require salary disclosure, and others are exploring similar laws. If you hire across provinces, expect the strictest standard to apply.
This quick guide helps dealerships:
Meet provincial posting rules.
Write ads that actually attract top techs, advisors, and sales talent.
Stand out on job boards without losing negotiation power.
Bottom line: This isn’t just about compliance, it’s your chance to show transparency, respect, and professionalism. In a tight talent market, that’s how you win the people you actually want to hire.
